We've not gone away, we have simply moved to Facebook. For up-to-date SIG news on more that just show reports follow this link.
The first show at the Macron Stadium was a resounding success. For a veteran of many shows; I can, with a degree of authority, state that this was one of the best model shows ever. The space; natural lighting; friendly atmosphere; models on displays and bargain on offer were second to none. The Bolton Show, being the first show of the season was always a highlight, but yesterdays show was an absolute classic. I expect to see many positive write ups over the coming days.
For the SIG, Aussie flu claimed a victim with Stalwart Mr Hardwick having to rest. Here are a few pictures of our display, plus a couple of excellent builds on the host clubs table. here is our display at the Northern Model Show (with a special WWI guest on it's way to the competition). A few special schemes aircraft that will be part of our Telford display have also joined the display. Plenty of Tornados on other tables too. Credit goes to:
South Tyne Model Makers Club IPMS Newton Aycliffe Model Maker's Club IPMS West Riding Scottish Aviation As ever, it was a great show. An important show for the SIG. We've reached out fifth anniversary. Darlington was our debut show back in 2012. The display also includes the centrepiece of our SMW 2017 Special Themes display.
A last show in its current location, with Bolton IPMS looking to love to a larger venue next year. For the SIG display we decided to give the Wingman display another outing.
Scale Model World saw us bring two displays to our table. A Wingman Decals themed Luftwaffe Tornado display and a Gulf War 25th Anniversary display.
the Gulf War display has been on tour since the Bolton model show and it made it's last appearance at SMW. The Wingman Decals display made it debut and was well received. The display was based on WND48006 Luftwaffe Tornados Part 1 - The Tornado IDS/ECR in Norm 95 and Single-Grey Camouflage. We look forward to following it with the Part 2 decal set (early Luftwaffe schemes) which is expected to be released over the next twelve months.
Here are some pictures of the display and a short video.
There were several models on display elsewhere. A special mention must go to Abingdon who had a stunning 617 Sqn build on their table and Bridlington & Wolds who had four of Gulf themed builds built by SIG member Trevor Snowden.
A small show, but well worth a visit. Here are some photos of the table. Here are a few pictures of today's display. a nice Italian Tornado on the South Tyne Model Makers Club stand. Two more Tornados on the York and District stand. And a personal favourite on IPMS Langley Moor.
Andy W, Andy H and Nathan were in attendance at the Northern Model Show again this year. Some of us managed to leave with more cash than when we arrived and there was cake! Here is our table at the Northern Model Show. There were quite a few Tornados on display on other tables too. The 1/144 SIG had a great collection of Tornados too. One had scratch built deployed flaps too!
