We knew the end was coming when we started the SIG, but it didn't diminish the sadness we felt when the RAF finally retired the Tornado. It is still in use overseas and that has softened the blow to a great degree. 

With the retirement of the GR4 our job as a SIG is perhaps even more important. To join simply sign up to our Facebook group.

The SIG’s display at Telford is going big, not in terms of space but scale.

We will be displaying 1/32 scale builds using various iterations of Revell’s release with a few conversions along the way.

The Tornado was well represented in the static display at RIAT 2018. The RAF (perhaps for the last time) brought two GR4s, ZA543 and ZA588. The Luftwaffe also brought two aircraft, and IDS and an ECR. The Italian Air Force brought one an IDS which fills a gap in our almost complete collection of walk around galleries.

​No special schemes this year, but the ECR did have a few paw prints from a tiger meet on its fuel tank.

Walk around image galleries will be added to the site soon. The Luftwaffe Tornado is interesting for anyone who builds Revels 1/32nd scale kit as it seems to have an uncompressed nose undercarriage oleo strut.
